The Hot Zone - current connection

Thanks to Katherine and Kyle for their dad's newspaper clipping regarding the current suspected Ebola outbreak.  Go to this CNN website, listen to the interview of the WHO representative, and read the article. 

What new understandings, concerns, or fears might you have now?

It makes me think about what would happen if it came to our area. How we would react and contain the Ebola.

Since the recent Ebola outbreak it kind of gets me nervous. Like the other day people were saying how a guy who had it flew to Canada but i don't see how that would be possible if he has Ebola. The people at the airport would not let the guy on the plane if he looked that sick you know. But definitely just knowing that somewhere out there is a virus with no cure that does such a horrible thing to humans just
makes me a germaphobe

it makes me see how fast a virus can spread. People wouldnt just let the virus kill them, instead they would try to tell someone and then the virus would spread to that person.

My new fear of this virus is that it is moving to other areas and that it may one day make it to the U.S.

Our in class stimulation showed me that a virus can spread VERY quickly. -Kyle

I am nervous about the out break because Earth and everyone living in it isn't very sanitary and a highly contagious virus mixed with unsanitary people can result in a very bad outbreak. Who knows, maybe one of the hosts flew to America and the virus is spreading as I type this. (lets hope not)

I agree with you Katherine. What if somebody with it flew here and we are not the most sanitary people in the world. And the simulation in class showed me how fast it could spread and that defiantly makes me nervous.

Some people are very unsanitary and if a virus likes this breaks out, it will spread very quickly.

I think that it probably won't be a huge outbreak like the one that we're reading about now, but it's still a big deal.

The outbreak project showed that a virus can spread quicker than I thought it could.

I'm kind of nervous because we don't have ANY kind of antidote for Ebola. The "virus" helped me understand how easily a virus can spread.

The simulation showed me that in just a few minutes a virus can spread very quickly. That scares me because of the recent outbreak of Ebola in New Guinea.

It makes me feel that it could easily break out here if someone came here with it and that we take life for advantage. The in class and out of class simulation helped me learn about how to be safe if we had one..?

It makes me feel that we take life for advantage because of if someone came we could easily all die. We could really have no way to contain it without not touching anything or breathing.

I fear that the Ebola virus will come to the US and start an epidemic. The New Guinea epidemic makes me nervous.

The in-and-out class simulation made me realize that the virus spreads quickly.
