The theme “The Deepest Love is always Hidden” is found in The Outsiders. Pony and Darry have been fighting for a long time after their parents have died. After a major fight where Darry is concerned about Ponyboy so much that he slaps him because he is mad, Ponyboy runs away with Johnny. They have many hardships and while saving children from a burning church they are severely injured. When Ponyboy comes out of the hospital Darry finally shows his love for him after many fights. Darry shows his love for him by crying and hugging him at the hospital.

We agree with your comment, but there is more than one example of " The Deepest Love is Often Hidden".
Dally acts like he hates everything. At the hospital he broke down into tears and ran away because he really had so much love for Johnny inside of him. He had to hide the fact that he was such a caring person. He could not ruin his reputation by showing that. He was so upset that Johnny had passed away and he wanted to be killed, so he could get rid of the pain of losing someone so close. Johnny was the only family he really had.

I appreciate your point of view and agree with what you said about the hospital and Dally’s reputation. A real world example of “The Deepest Love is Always Hidden” is men don’t really like to cry because they don’t want to look soft. Men have a reputation of being the toughest person. Father’s always try to act tough in front of their children so that they look tough for their children, because we know that if we were parents we would try to look tough and strong in front of their children, family, or friends.

We agree with your example of the deepest love is often hidden. Someone who hates you so much and never really made friends with you could show up at your funeral and realize it was a mistake to never get a chance to be friends with you. It would make them feel guilty because of that. They would have second thoughts about hating you. After you have died, it is too late to do anything about it.

We agree with what you said about the funeral, and it’s a very good point and we liked it. We also agreed the theme “The Deepest Love is Always Hidden” can be found the book The Outsiders. What you said was kind of depressing and sad but it was a great point! We discussed it as a group and we would regret if we did that to someone. Because someone could have always wanted to be someone’s friend but they never gave them a chance and then when their gone you will never get the chance to be their friend again because their gone forever. So that goes with the theme the “Deepest Love is Always Hidden” because that girl who wanted to be her friend didn’t even try to give her a chance and now her chance is over.

Another example of the deepest love is hidden is that in you have a family member as a princple or teacher, they cannot pull strings for you. They love you very much, but he has to re- enforce the rules to everyone and treat everyone fair. It wouldn't be fair to everyone else if you got away with everything.

That’s a very good example of the Deepest Love is Always Hidden. We have a few friends that have family members as teachers, coaches, or principals. Some of the kids we know do have or get special treatment by not getting in trouble for reasons other kids get detentions and more. That’s not right and it’s not fair either because everyone should be treated equally, like the Socs or the Greasers should treat each other equally. Even though the Socs are rich to Greasers they have problems of their own and the Greasers think the Socs have “the life.” Everyone has problems and that’s life and it’s not worth fighting over.
