“Maturing means becoming sensitive to others as individuals” is our theme. We think that they use this in The Outsiders when Pony accepts Dally as a friend. Under Dally’s tough atmosphere, Pony sees a caring person. There is an example The Outsiders when Johnny and Pony is running away.
Pony sees Dally as a carry person because Dally doesn’t want people to be tough like him (Johnny). We see this go in with the theme because he is being sensitive to Pony because he is helping him run away. Dally is also seen nicer when Johnny sees Dally as a caring person. He sees this when he sees him crying when Johnny hurt. We also see in the story when Pony toughens up when the Socs threaten him at the end of the story. He breaks a soda bottle it at him.

Yes, we agree with what you said because even someone as tough as Dally could break. he couldn't take seeing Johnny die because Johnny die because he loved Johnny like family. When Pony and Johnny killed Bob Dally helped them run away because he loves and cares for them. another example is when Darry hits Pony. You could see that he really was sorry. Also, when Pony was in the hospital, Darry cried and gave him a hug. Then, when Cherry and Pony are talking, and Pony says that socials are bad and Cherry tells them they are not all bad. Then he realizes they are not all bad, like Randy, but some are bad.

Thanks for your reply. We think you point of view is very well written and we agreed with it. A real world example is how others have different beliefs than us and we have to respect that. For an example my neighbors are Baptist and I am Catholic. We have to respect their beliefs. We might not believe the same thing they do but we still have to respect their beliefs.
Repercussions for ignoring others beliefs my result in isolation, for example if you don’t understand their point of view you might not know how to talk to them or work with them and you might heart there feelings by making prejudice remarks. Maturing to this level can take time and the willingness to accept others beliefs or feelings.

We too agree with your reply. My brother is very annoying, but I have to live with him and respect him. Even though he is very annoying I have to respect him and deal with him. Even though he is mean we are still brothers and we have to deal with each other. Me and my brother are totally different we still have to respect each other. So we have to accept each other.

All of us have siblings and they are sometimes annoying, but they are sometimes useful if you can cope with them. Like Darry and Pony, they don't really hate each other, but they disagree about their priorities. Pony matured and became sensitive to his opinion and saw that Darry really cared for him. Your theme is very well represented even though some people in our group don’t agree with it. Don't worry some people do agree.

Yes we think your comment is very well written. Another real world example is D.E.C. kids. Some people are very mean to them, but you have to accept them. It is not their fault they are like that so you have to accept them for who they are. So you shouldn't be mean to them. When you accept them, you are maturing into understanding why they need acceptance.

We all agree with that idea, but can you clarify what D.E.C stands for? We all agree with S.E. Hinton’s theme, Maturing means becoming sensitive to others as individuals. We think her lesson is strait forward. It is a very good book for people our age. We think this value is every good lesson for then and now.
